Brasil logo.jpg (50034 bytes)BRASIL BRAZIL features internationally-renowned singers Ana Gazzola and Sonia Santos who, with their five-piece jazz band, deliver the fervor, enthusiasm and excitement of popular Brazilian music - tinged with jazz and spiced with strong Latin and African rhythms.

Offering the best-known standards of classic and contemporary Brazilian Jazz, Ana, Sonia and their band perform musical arrangements that present all the rhythms and faces of this cBrasil.jpg (68954 bytes)olorful and tropical culture.  With some of the best musicians from the North and South of Brazil performing on a variety of unique, authentic instruments, audiences are both entertained and educated about this South American country.

Based in Los Angeles since 1991, Brasil Brazil has toured to many of this country's top festivals and venues, including the Syracuse Jazz Festival, the Ford Detroit International Jazz Festival, BrazilFest at Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors (NYC), Pepperdine University, El Camino College, Napa Valley Opera House, and the Hollywood Palladium.  The troupe records under the Yellow Green Productions label which has issued such recent recordings as "Brasil Brazil," "Brasil Brazil 2," and "Brazilicious!" as well as “Live at the Syracuse Jazz Festival” on DVD.

"The show was marvelous!  Any organizer of a festival, series, or event that wants to showcase human diversity in general or Brazil in particular must serious consider bringing in Brasil Brazil.  The band is authentic; they are the real deal.  They transport the audience to Carnival in Rio."  James M. Benedict, Augusta State University, Georgia.

"Both sing in the alto range with compassion. Ana Gazzola sings with a smooth-toned, laid-back approach, while Sonia Santos performs in a rich, overtone-laden, percussive style.  The happiness Gazzola and Santos exude is contagious."   -  Jim Santella, AllAboutJazz.com

"The common ground is the sophisticated mood of their arrangements:  warm and lively with a jazz tinge, spiced with some lush Brazilian percussion. In most tunes the two gorgeous voices interact and blend."  - Patricia Albela, L.A. Jazz Scene
