Ballet JorgenBallet Jörgen/Canada is a Toronto-based ballet company directed by Bengt Jörgen, formerly of the National Ballet of Canada.  The company, which was founded in 1987, regularly tours throughout Canada and the United States.

Following the company's NYC debut, The New York Times said:  "The company is a rare and exhilarating find.  Freshness, authority and intelligence, as well as first-rate production values, are hallmarks of its work."

For the troupe of 18+ dancers, Mr. Jörgen has staged several popular, full-length classics:  "The Nutcracker," "Romeo and Juliet," "Coppelia," and "Cinderella."  For the 2008-2009 touring season is a new full-length production of "Anastasia" which premiered in early November, 2007.  These full-length ballets can be adapted for theatres that do not have fly lofts.Jorgen Nut.jpg (15397 bytes)

During the 2008-2009 season, the company’s new “Anastasia” will tour in the Midwest, Southern States, and on the East Coast during January, 2009, with the possibility of late September, 2008, and May, 2009, availability if sufficient interest develops.  Ballet Jörgen’s largest undertaking to date, the new ballet presents the magical story of the Russian princess Anastasia.  Created by acclaimed choreographer and Artistic Director Bengt Jörgen, “Anastasia” is set to an original, full orchestra score by Canadian/Russian composer Ivan Barbotin.

The mystery of what happened to the young 17-year-old princess, Anastasia, has fascinated people for 90 years – spanning a multitude of books, movies, and musicals.  “Anastasia” is both a tragic story of a simple, innocent girl and the subject of modern mythology, since little is certain of what actually happened that fateful summer of 1918.

In the Western States, the company will tour its acclaimed full-length ballet, “Romeo and Juliet,” choreographed to the Prokofiev score, during February, 2009.

“The Nutcracker" will have limited U.S. availability in the Midwest and Northeast from mid to late November.

Ballet Jörgen’s newly redesigned production of "The Nutcracker," is choreographed for the troupe of about 24 dancers, including four from the company's school in the lead children's roles. This production can also be adapted to facilities which do not have fly lofts.
