Carlos Alvarez, the internationally-acclaimed mime and clown from Medellín, Colombia, has been delighting children and adults alike since 1991. He presents theatrical works that touch upon tender and human themes, are humorous and entertaining, while employing the illusions of mime, the grace of puppets, and the silly actions of clowns. ![]() He has appeared in the U.S. at two International Festivals of Hispanic Theatre (in Miami and in Washington, DC) and at the Puppet Festival of the Americas in Tampa, and has toured internationally to Korea, Spain, Italy, France, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and throughout his native country of Colombia. He also appears frequently on the Latin television network, Univision. Carlos offers one- or two-hour programs comprised of several works from his repertory that include “Vida, Amor y Risa” (“Life, Love and Laughter”), “Mimus Delirius” (“Delirious Mime”), “Un Golpe a la Tristesa” (“A Blow to Sadness”), “Mimus Ecológicus” (“Ecological Mime”), and “Mimonerias.” He premiered his newest work, “Caliche Cachivache,” in July, 2007, at Teatro Matacandelas in Medellin, Colombia. These works last from 25 minutes to 50 minutes each and can be performed in a variety of venues, from conventional theatres to multi-purpose rooms to outdoor stages.
