DBDT’s touring season also includes national and international residencies. These consist of major concert performances, educational workshops and outreach programs.
Notable residencies include Carver Community Cultural Center, San Antonio, Texas; Door Community Auditorium, Wisconsin; New Orleans Public Schools, Louisiana; San Francisco Bay Area, California; Verizon Residencies in Florida, Indiana and North Carolina; and for Dallas’ Young Audiences and Arts Partners.
Dallas Black Dance Theatre performs 3 home series (October, February and May) at the Majestic Theatre in downtown Dallas. The company also performs annually at Fort Worth’s Scott Theatre and at public schools, community colleges and universities throughout Texas.
In September 1998, DBDT toured South Africa in an educational exchange to the cities of Johannesburg, Soweto, Cape Town, and as a special guest artist for the 1998 Cultural Calabash Arts Festival held in the Northern Province.
Other past notable performances include the 226th Celebration of American Independence in Dublin, Ireland, Dance Women/Living Legends series in New York City; 1996 Olympic Arts Festival in Atlanta, GA; the 1996 Lincoln Center out of Doors Festival in New York City; and the Festival International in Matamoras, Tampaulipas, Mexico. International performances include tours to Vienna, Austria; Great Britain; Mexico; Seville, Spain; Sicily, Italy and Lima, Peru and Africa.
