Tap and live beatbox music are at the heart of Project X, an amazing production from Australia’s Raw Dance Company of Brisbane. Very much in the style that has brought tap back from the fringes of the dance world, the show, devised by Creative Director Andrew Fee, is a hugely enjoyable romp through the tap textbook. Raw Dance Company brings Project X to the U.S. and Canada on its first extended tour starting early October and continuing through early November of the 2009-2010 season.
The Project X tappers are supported by first-class beatbox musicians under the direction of Gene Peterson on keyboard and percussion, earning an ovation of his own for a tour-de-force on pots, pans, trash cans, kettles – everything but the kitchen sink - and equaled only by hip-hop’s Beatbox master, Tom Thum.
