State logo.jpg (19396 bytes)State Street Ballet of Santa Barbara, founded in 1994 by former American Ballet Theatre dancer Rodney Gustafson, has toured extensively throughout the Western States, earning rave reviews for its sleek new look at classical ballet.  For the past several seasons, the 18-dancer company has toured nationally – taking its full-length “Cinderella,” “Carmen,” and “The Nutcracker” to the East Coast, Southern States, and the Midwest.

 

During the 2008-2009 season, in addition to a new production of “The Nutcracker,” the following full-evening programs will tour nationally: “Beauty and the Beast,” based on Jean Cocteau's film of 1946 and choreographed by Emmy Award-winner, Robert Sund, to the music of Tchaikovsky; “Ballroom,” choreographed to the music of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, the Andrews Sisters, Billie Holiday, Glenn Miller, and George Gershwin, with choreography by William Soleau, Robert Sund, and artistic director, Rodney Gustafson; and by special request, William Soleau’s “Carmen” (Bizet).
 

For West Coast presenters, the company will offer a new, full-length production of the immortal, “Swan Lake” (Tchaikovsky).
