State Street Ballet of Santa BarbaraState Street Ballet of Santa Barbara, founded in 1994 by former American Ballet Theatre dancer Rodney Gustafson, has toured extensively throughout the Western States, earning rave reviews for its sleek new look at classical ballet.  For the past several seasons, the 18-dancer company has toured nationally – taking its full-length “Cinderella,” “Carmen,” and “The Nutcracker” to the East Coast, Southern States, and the Midwest.

During the 2009-2010 season, in addition to a new production of “The Nutcracker,” State Street Ballet will tour its new productions of "Jungle Book," William Soleau's "Carmina Burana" (California only), and a revival of Mr. Gustafson’s delightful, full-length "Cinderella" (Prokofiev).  “Carmina Burana” is available for performances with local choruses or with an orchestra and chorus supplied by the Company.

"The Nutcracker," inspired by the Golden Age of Hollywood in the 1930s, will again tour during the 2009 holiday season.  State Street Ballet’s production can use local children (optional), with the director working with a local dance instructor in the audition and initial rehearsal of the kids selected.

Another full-length ballet that may be available for touring during the winter/spring, 2010, is the enormously successful production of “Carmen” (choreography by New York’s William Soleau with music from the original Georges Bizet score.)
